Subject: [Tweeters] Tonite at the Bremerton Ferry Terminal

I spent an enjoyable 20 mins hanging out on the boardwalk after getting off
the ferry. Here's what I saw:

Seal sp.

Bald Eagles: 3, one immature perched atop the Turner Joy, 2 adults
perched on tree branches overlooking the water. One of the adults called a
lot, the imm. would answer.
Belted Kinfisher: 1 male, whose rattles became longer and louder
the more often the BAEA called. It finally flew away from where it was
perched below the eagles.
Pied-billed Grebe
Grebe sp.: 1 lone grebe, couldn't tell if it was a Horned or Earned
(funky bins), but it definitely wasn't a Red-necked. Either of the other
two would be pretty unusual for over here this time of year, eh?
Pelagic Cormorants
Gull sp.
Song Sparrow
House Sparrow
Eu. Starling

Overall I'm seeing fewer GB Herons down there this year. One used to hunt
regularly from the marina docks, but it hasn't been there at all during my
usual AM/PM times. Fewer House Finches, and White-crowned Sparrows, too,
but those birds are still regulars along my walk from the terminal.

Oh, and I thought I heard a whale blow but didn't actually see the beast.
There've been Gray Whales hanging out down near the terminal and in the Port
WA Narrows, so will keep my eyes peeled.

Good birding, everyone,
Mary
