Subject: [Tweeters] Am Golden Plover and Black-necked Stilt No.

Hello Marv and others,

Our posting was not meant at ALL to be offensive to you or anyone about the
Pacific Golden Plover or anything and since you led a WOOS field trip on
Saturday we have no doubt that you indeed had a Pacific Golden Plover!!! Our
message refers only to a second hand report we received privately in which
that person doubted or questioned our sighting of a "crisp" breeding
plumaged Am.Golden Plover. We made a strong effort to obtain photos of not
the best quality of the bird the day before your field trip on the 22nd and
were totally confident in our sighting. We sent these photos to Tom Aversa
privately and were excited to see this bird in such high breeding plumage
like it were already on breeding grounds! It was a beautiful bird to see and
our personal firsts in this brilliant plumage,as far as having no flaws! We
posted it and left it for that, hoping someone would perhaps see the bird!
After reading that Aaron Martin's posting and seeing that him and others did
not see the Am.Golden Plover on the 24th it seemed perhaps the bird had
moved on since spring migration is fast and active and shorebirds are on a
hurry to get to breeding grounds.Aaron and several others were along Brady
Loop Rd. in the afternoon and you,Russell Rogers and maybe a few other
birders were there in the morning,so there are in fast 2 different birds to
say the least! The Pacific Golden Plover is a good bird for you Marv and we
do trust your ability in identifying birds and is so great you did see the
bird on Saturday! Congratulations on another nice spring bird for the Brady
Loop Rd. complex! Last we read that Russell Rogers observed an Am.Golden
Plover on the 23rd and felt compelled to write our reply back pubically onto
Tweeters,as we figure perhaps Russell saw the same bird we had the day prior
since it is possible it is the same bird! That is all we have to say and
again meant no offense to you and always enjoy talking to you in the field
when we run into you too and exchanging ideas and sightings,if nothing else!
We hope this message may "lighten" things up,but if they still don't we are
sorry for that. Perhaps others may comment too!

Sincerely,

Patrick Sullivan
