Here the goodies from today's trip, starting early morning at Ft. Simcoe and
ending late at Paradise, Mt. Rainier:

Ash-throated Flycatcher (6 at Ft. Simcoe in thick Gerry Oaks SE of building
14)
Lewis's Woodpecker (many at Ft. Simcoe)
Nashville Warbler (1 youngster at Ft. Simcoe)

Evening Grosbeak (several at both Lodgepole CG and Fifes Peaks Overlook off
SR410)

White-tailed Ptarmigan (1 hen with 4 chicks 2ft off the trail 0.1mi east of
snowfield east of Panorama Point)
Townsend's Solitaire (1 in same area as the ptarmigan, above treeline)
American Pipit (1 off Golden Gate Trail)
Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch (1 seen sitting on Skyline Trail 0.2mi short of
Panorama Point, many more heard)

The Paradise area was doused in thick fog/clouds late afternoon. It was cool
(in the mid 50s), yet not very windy. The visibility at Panorama Point was
between 50-150ft. I advise against crossing the snowfield under conditions
like this. A better approach (at least to get to the ptarmigan spot) would
be to take the Golden Gate Trail up to the eastern portion of the Skyline
Trail. The wildflowers were spectacular (at least from what I could tell).
