I took a trip to eastern WA on August 3-5 and saw lots
of interesting birds. Here are a few highlights.

Wild Turkey, platoons of 6 and 9, Hawk Creek
Campground & vicinity (Lincoln Cty);

Ruffed Grouse, one, Hawk Creek Campground Road;

Solitary Sandpiper, 3 foraging together, Hawk Creek
Campground;

Solitary Sandpiper, 1, Reardan Ponds (Lincoln Cty);

American Avocet, 1, Reardan Ponds;

Black-necked Stilt, 9, Reardan Ponds;

Long-billed Dowitcher, 8, Reardan Ponds;

Wison's Phalarope, 1, Reardan Ponds;

Northern Pygmy Owl, 1, junction of Miles-Creston and
Welch Creek Roads, Lincoln County;

Gray Flycatcher, 1, Bachelor Prairie Road just off
Miles-Creston Road (Lincoln County);

Gray Flycatcher, 1, Hawk Creek Ranch Road (Lincoln
County);

Least Flycatcher, 1 calling at mid-day, Mountain View
Cemetery in Davenport (Lincoln County);

Pygmy Nuthatch, 3, up the trail from boat launch at
Hawk Creek Campground (Lincoln County);

Yellow-breasted Chat, 1, boat launch at Hawk Creek;

Gray Catbird, 1, Frideger Road and Little Spokane
River (Spokane County);

Lazuli Bunting, 1, Mount Spokane State Park (just
above the campground);

Violet-green Swallow, 300 or more, north end Sullivan
Lake (Pend Oreille County).
