Last Friday I witnessed 2 peregrine falcons doing an aerial talon display/behavior for several minutes over the McChord AFB airfield. When they finished, the 2 peregrines flew off in opposite directions. I've seen this aerial display by red-tailed hawks and bald eagles during courtship/breeding season, but not by peregrines or this late in the season. Is this typical peregrine behavior? Why are the peregrines engaging in this behavior this late in the season? Feel free to send responses to me directly.
