I found 2 recently fledged juncos at the Coupeville Elementary School
indicating a 2nd brood. The 1st brood also numbered 2 fledglings. What makes
this highly unusual for these parts ( Whidbey Island) is the fact that the
young are juncos and not cowbirds. I've never before seen a successful 2nd
junco brood that didn't involve cowbirds. We also have Violet-green Swallows
attempting a 2nd brood in a nest box on our house. It seems pretty late in
the season to be starting the process again.
