There was a very handsome Tufted Puffin about 100 feet offshore feeding in
the shallows opposite the parking lot at North Beach Park in Port Townsend.
It was there when we began our walk at noon and still there when we
concluded our walk at 2:00. The reason the bird was so striking was because
of the incredibly great views we had of it. In the eight years I've been
observing birds in Port Townsend I have never before had a distinct view of
a Tufted Puffin from the shore.
