Hello Tweets,
Yesterday we spent a warm day checking areas between Pierce Co. to Mason Co. with one stop made at the Gorst Creek Estuary in Kitsap Co. Our main efforts were made for shorebirds primarily during the late morning incoming tide. We also extended our trip to Wood Lake in Mason Co. in search of dragonflies with some birding made at that location too. Our main shorebird highlights of he day were at the Gorst Creek Estuary, where we located a single Baird's Sandpiper and up to 2 Semipalmated Sandpipers amongst a small scattered flock of Western Sandpipers. Our day began searching a few spot near our home in Pierce Co. with the most productive stop being the exposed mudflats bordering Day Island and the Narrows Marina. This stop produced a single Short-billed Dowitcher, 7 Western Sandpipers and up to 20 Least Sandpipers. We plan to check this location in upcoming weeks for migrating shorebirds during appropriate tide conditions.
