Greetings Tweeters,

It's been nearly two months since a new species showed up at the Hundred Acre Woods (NE Lakewood, Pierce County) but today we greeted # 98, six PURPLE MARTINS. They all looked to be juveniles and they were working the surface of the pond at the east end of the Woods. And No, I have no idea where they were born.

The Woods are/is? otherwise fairly quiet this time of year. The number of Swallows is tapering off and there are lots of juv. House Finches. An occasional Bullock's Oriole and BH Grosbeak to spice things up, plus the ever present Red Tail Hawk pair. It appears that they did not have a youngster this season.
