Yesterday (8/17), the water at the Yakima Delta was a bit high but what
little mud was there was had a few shorebirds. There were a dozen or so
Western Sandpipers, 3 Lesser Yellowlegs and 1 Greater Yellowlegs. Today
was much better. There were a total of 6 Solitary Sandpipers, around 20
yellowlegs (more Lesser than Greater), 25 or so Western Sandpipers, 5
Black-necked Stilts, and Killdeer. Both days there were 2 Spotted
Sandpipers on the shore of Bateman Island.

Bateman Island was also very quiet yesterday. By the time I reached the
end, it had started to rain and not many birds were around. I found a few
Yellow Warblers. Today was again much better. I found all expected
warblers except Yellow-rumped. Most were Yellow Warblers but each set of
Yellows seemed to have an additional species. Orange-crowned were the next
numerous with a few Wilson's, a Nashville, and a Townsend's present. The
only MacGillivray's I saw was along the dike road of the Yakima Delta.

Eastern and Western Kingbirds remain. I only saw 1 Bullock's Oriole. One
Gray Catbird kept out of sight but mewed and made its other raspy sounds.
