Dear Tweeters,

Pretty good shorebirding continues in the Lyman area
(Skagit Cty).

The pond (now a puddle) at SR 20 milepost 73.8 (just W
of the Cascade Mercantile, on the E side of the little
access causeway) had four (4) Solitary Sandpipers this
morning, along with a Spotted Sandpiper and a
Killdeer. The Solitaries were busy trying to chase one
another off, so maybe they really do prefer solitude.

Meanwhile, over at Cockreham Island's south pond, a
couple of Killdeer kept company with a Lesser
Yellowlegs.

Over the last few days, I have noticed that these two
ponds have different shorebirds every day. The
Cockreham pond had a few Least and Western Sandpipers
last night (along with the usual Killdeer). The SR 20
mile 73.8 pond had two Solitary Sandpipers yesterday,
and one a few days ago, plus a Greater Yellowlegs.
It's been a sort of grab-bag of shorebirds around here lately.
