Birders,

On Friday morning, August 19, an UPLAND SANDPIPER was reported by
a visiting birder near the railway crossing on 96th Street in Delta, BC, a
mile
or so north of Boundary Bay. The bird was apparently seen well and
heard calling, but it has not been relocated since.

This does not validate my report of an Upland Sandpiper heard near
Acme, Whatcom Co., on August 11, but it does make it seem a bit less
unlikely.

Even around Vancouver, Upland Sandpiper is an extremely rare bird,
with fewer than 10 sightings.

It's possible that there will be more sightings of Upland Sandpiper
in WA over the next few days. Washington birders, be on the alert!
