A busy few days yielded some good shorebirds.

A day hike to Cape Alava (about 4 miles from Lake Ozette trailhead) on Thursday, Aug. 18 gave us a BAIRD'S SANDPIPER along with Least and Western as well as many Heerman's Gull. At the trailhead along the Ozette River was a Spotted Sandpiper when we returned from our day hike.

On the way home on Friday, the small wetland just south of the John Wayne Marina, and across the street from the bay, produced two PECTORAL SANDPIPER.

After arriving home and reading about the STILT SANDPIPER we decided to go to Bainbridge Island this morning. George Gertz and Doug Watkins already had it located by the time we arrived at about 9:00 am. We watched it on the bay side and then it moved to the back of the wetland across the street. Left about 10:30 with it still at the back of the wetland.
