Hi Tweets

I would like to remind everyone out there that the Washington Ornithological Society is having its annual conference in Bellingham, WA on Friday, September 9 thru Monday, September 12, 2005. We are meeting at the Best Western Lakeway Inn and Conference Center. We are offering multiple field trips on all days, with evening speakers on Friday and Saturday nights.

We are offering a full schedule of trip on Friday, and as a new feature a full schedule of trips on Monday (choose those that fit your schedule). Trips will include a "pelagic" boat trip out of Bellingham to the San Juans, and trips to Point Roberts, Reifel Sanctuary (both of these trips go into Canada so it is very helpful to bring your passport), Mt. Baker, Drayton Harbor, Tennant Lake/Lake Terrell, the Skagit and Samish Flats, Whidbey Island, and two special Digiscoping trips. Friday's speaker will be Joe Meche, and Saturday's keynot speaker will be Terry Wahl. Joe will welcome us to the Whatcom County area and provide us with an overview of the environments in the area. Joe has been active in birding in the area and will tell us how all the various parts of the Whatcom are fit together. Terry will speak on "A Perspective on the Birds of Whatcom County and Surrounding Area Over the Years". Terry started the Westport pelagic tours (the first on the west coast), was the original author with Dennis Paulson of Bird Finding in Washington, and is a co-editor with Bill Tweit and Steve Mlodinow of the recently issued Birds of Washington. We are looking forward to hearing Joe and Terry.

There is is still space available for the conference and for most of the trips (the Point Roberts and Mt. Baker trips are ALREADY full). Come up and join us in Bellingham for an enjoyable conference during an exciting time of the year. More information is available at the WOS website: http://www.wos.org

I will look forward to meeting and talking with all of you at the conference.
