Rare bird alert for a WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER.


Sightings for Monday, August 22

A juvenile WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER was present all day at Iona
Island, Richmond, and was last seen in the southeast sewage pond.


Sunday, August 21

An immature male AMERICAN REDSTART was seen at Deer Lake Park in
Burnaby at the southwest corner of the park, at the edge of woods
near the trail junction south of the glider field.

A SURFBIRD was seen near Berth One on the Tsawwassen ferry jetty,
Delta, and a MARBLED GODWIT was at the compensation lagoon on the
north side of the jetty.

A BARN OWL was on the north fence of the north airport runway on
Sea Island, Richmond.


Saturday, August 20

3 STILT SANDPIPERS were in front of the mansion near 96th Street at
Boundary Bay, Delta, and 4 RED KNOTS and 300 SANDERLINGS were
with a flock of BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS.

2 WILSON'S PHALAROPES were at the foot of 72nd Street, Delta, on
one of the golf course ponds.


Friday, August 19

An UPLAND SANDPIPER was seen and heard along 96th Street at 7:30
AM over a field east of 96th Street, Delta, just south of the
railway tracks. The bird then landed in a field north of the tracks
in a horse stable, which may not be visible from the road.

Elgin Heritage Park in Surrey had 2 WILSON'S PHALAROPES and a
SOLITARY SANDPIPER in the east pond.


Thursday, August 18

The mansion off 96th Street in Boundary Bay had 3 BANK SWALLOWS, 1
RUDDY TURNSTONE, 4 STILT SANDPIPERS and 1 WILSON'S PHALAROPE.

Elgin Heritage Park in Surrey had 2 SOLITARY SANDPIPERS and 1 STILT
SANDPIPER.


Wednesday, August 17

An AMERICAN KESTREL was at the airport on Sea Island and 1 STILT
SANDPIPER was in the southwest sewage pond at Iona Island.


Tuesday, August 16

At Boundary Bay between 96th Street and the mansion were 2 MARBLED
GODWITS, 1 RED KNOT AND 3 STILT SANDPIPERS.
