Hi Tweets: "Thanks" to all who responded to my call for help on my Pileated windowkill. Found someone here is Skagit County who legally collects them and it will be going to the "Burke" or Slater.
Wish I had known about this as Rudy the Rufous came home to die this summer. He was a feisty male who had been coming to our feeder for about seven years. Although he was not banded, he had tricks only he would know. He just sat by the feeder, eyes were bright and you could touch him but he was tired and an old man. Found him dead beside the path and buried him under the old Rhody and next spring he will be back as a big pink blossom.
Our 8-10 Black Headed Grosbeaks finally left on the 22nd after eating us out of the house at home the past three weeks. Same date as last year and the year before that.
