Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday August 25. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On August 15 an ASHY STORM-PETREL was seen 115nm. West of Cape Lookout.
Several XANTUS?S/CRAVERI?S type MURRELETS were also seen. On August 14 the
previously reported BLUE-HEADED VIREO was seen again on Coffin Butte at the
EE Wilson SWA.

Flocks of VAUX?S SWIFTS are now gathering to roost in the Agate Hall Chimney
in Eugene. Flocks of waterfowl are now arriving, and the shorebird movement
it outstanding, especially for STILT, BAIRD?S, and SOLITARY SANDPIPERS.
During the week four STILT SANDPIPERS were at Thief Valley Reservoir, three
at McKay Reservoir, one at Cold Springs NWR, one at Fern Ridge Reservoir,
one at the Fernhill Wetlands, one at Ridgefield NWR, and one at Bandon NWR.

On August 21 an AVOCET, two RED KNOTS, and three MARBLED GODWITS were at
Bandon NWR. At least 20 MARBLED MURRELES were close off Boiler Bay August
20. On August 22 there were 46 WESTERN GREBES and 18 CLARK?S GREBES gathered
on Vancouver Lake, north of Vancouver, WA. On August 20 a WHITE PELICAN was
at Sauvie Island. A MAGPIE is now being seen in northeast Portland around
Mason and Skidmore Streets at 47th. Ave.

On August 18 a BLACK PHOEBE was at Timber Linn Park in Albany. On August 22
a PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER, a PECTORAL SANDPIPER, and 11 SHORT-BILLED
DOWITCHERS were at Fern Ridge Reservoir.
