Hi Tweeters,

I'm still getting around my work bird route. This
Monday an immature Green Heron visited the "beach" in
front of South Campus Center. One day last week 2
Spotted Sandpipers visited the same beach. The lake
level (and Portage Bay) level is dropping.

Papa Downy Woodpecker brought a fledgling through a
while back. Also fledgling Cedar Waxwing with parents
recently. Yesterday saw a just fledged
Glaucous-winged Gull on the bay, quite a bit of down
around the edges. A lot of Northern Flickers
around. Wednesday there were 5 out on the lawn, one
was begging. Also saw a yellow shafted flicker
sunbathe. They look drugged when they do this. She
then got up and loped my way. She had a beautiful
brown and gray pattern on her face. She was probably
an intergrade, the yellow on the shafts was more a
burnt gold than yellow. Her chest patch was a strange
shape, no red on the nape. Lot of flicker and other
feathers around, there are many molting birds right
now.

>From Sakuma Viewpoint Park (near Agua Verde
restaurant) to the Montlake bridge, along Portage Bay.
