Greetings:

The following are some sightings of an Eastern Washington trip that Stefan Schlick and I went on yesterday. We camped out at Robinson Canyon in the Ellensburg area on Friday night, then drove to Vantage, Othello, and Washtucna on Saturday. One of the highlights being the numbers and variety of flycatchers (Western Wood Pewee, Dusky, Pacific-slope, Willow, and Olive-sided) at Basset Park in Washtucna.

Sage Sparrow (5 in the sage areas along the road from the Ginkgo Interpretive Center to the boat launch)

Sage Thrasher (1 near the Ginkgo Interpretive Center, 1 at Wanapum State Park)

Semi-palmated Plover (1 at the county line ponds - Adams/Grant counties)

Swainson's Hawk (near Washtucna on Hwy 26)

Baird's Sandpiper (1 in the sewage overflow pond, at the rest stop on Hwy 26 near the intersection with Hwy 395)

Loggerhead Shrike (3 along the Lower Crab Creek Rd near Corfu)

Northern Pygmy Owl (heard while camping at Robinson Canyon)

Common Poorwill (5-6 birds heard while camping at Robinson Canyon)

Great Horned Owl (heard while camping at Robinson Canyon)

Common Nighthawk (1 at Vantage, and 1 at Smyrna along Lower Crab Creek Rd)
