Hi Tweets,

Today, Sunday, 8/28, Ned McGarry and I joined the flood of birders heading to the central coast to take in the shorebird migration. We made stops at Bottle Beach, Midway, North Cove, Tokeland, the Hoquiam SP, Bill's Spit, and Damon Point in that order.

BY THE WAY: I may have missed the notice, but the small parking lot at Bill's Spit now has a house on it and access is NO LONGER AVAILABLE thru there according to the homeowner. Thanks to Opperman's note in his book, we were able to locate the public access at the end of Peninsula Court, just to the south of the old access point. The public path runs through the trees on the left side of the cul-de-sac and is marked with a small sign reading
"No Hunting - OSPD"

The day went quite well between rain showers with 18 shorebirds and 57 species total. The highlight of the day was definitely a nice look at a SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER along the beach at Damon Point. He posed for us for about 10 minutes from 20 feet away and was a new life bird for Ned!

thats it.
