Hi Tweeters,

I read the Birdbox report about the Great Egret at the
small Ft Steilicoom lake. It brought back memories of
walking around that lake when I was in college. I
wasn't really a birder then. The two birds that stood
out for me when I was getting my head crammed full of
information was Wood Ducks and Ring-necked Pheasants.

Today I walked around the big loop at Nisqually Refuge
and there was a Great Egret on the outer edge along
Nisqually Reach. Other birds I saw pretty much
expected. A flyby Mourning Dove could be unusual, I'm
not sure. They are a species I find in the most
random places on the west side. Peeps were too far
out to scope except for some Greater Yellowlegs.
