Dennis Duffy reported seeing 25 Purple Martins on the masts in the
Edmonds Marina Saturday morning. He said they are both sexes, adults
and sub-adults and he enjoyed listening to them chatter away. I went
down to the waterfront Sunday morning. There was no activity at any
of the gourds on the pilings. All nestlings have apparently
fledged. I could only spot two martins in the marina but they were
too far away to distinguish females from sub-adults. No martins were
seen over the Edmonds Marsh. Makes me wonder if Dennis observed a
staging for the fall migration.

I did see one adult Marbled Murrelet and two first years between the
ferry dock and the fishing pier a little further offshore.
