Thanks Steve! There should be many more convenient opportunities for me to
scrutinize young rhino auklets, and I'll keep your suggestions in mind. As I
recall, this Golden Gardens bird was quite plain, with no conspicous eye
crescent. It was so close I couldn't have even focused my binoculars on it.
I do have reservations about my ID, and welcome the advice.
