Subject: [Tweeters] Discovery Park Snowy Owl 11/30

I got off work near Seattle Center and rushed over as quick as I could, to see if I could see the owl when it took off for the night. Traffic was, of course, bad on Emerson, but that is the way I know to get to the park, so... anyway, it was durn near dark when I got there. The bird was a little higher up on the roof than I had seen it previously. Then, I got distracted by another bird (a very puffed up Ruby-crowned Kinglet as it turned out - it looked huge), and looked back and the owl was gone! Well, went around the corner and saw a guy with a camera pointed to the top of one of the larger conifers right out the entrance to the church. Watched the bird from there for a bit, and then it flew to another tree, where it hung out for another half hour. It was getting quite dark now, just a tiny bit of color left on the horizon. Finally, at just about 5pm, out stretched those beautiful wings, and the bird took off flying to the north. What a majestic sight! Very glad I went and !
stuck it
out - hope it had good hunting and sticks around for a while!
