We had 50 to 100 at a time last year along with Evening Grosbeak from November though the first of the year. We have neither this year. We are surprised that no one has mentioned Siskin being irruptive this time of year and go to where they find food.

This is from eNature........The Pine Siskin's winter visits to the United States occur mainly in years when the seed crop has failed in the boreal forests. In some years large flocks may appear as far south as Florida. Their principal foods are the seeds of hemlocks, alders, birches, and cedars.

We read a report a while back that claimed last year was one of those years. That is why we saw so many. Hopefully they are alive, well and about to wipe out the food source they have now and we will see them soon.
