...................Abit late, but I'm sure the birds observed are still
present.
...................Hit freezing rain,black ice in spots, snow , small
hail----the ground was white at. morn in Tokeland, and Sun. morn in
Grayland beach --SW Wash. coast. Bu t daytime hours were fairly
sunny--but a bit cold with low and mid 40's.
...................Tokeland Marina: Zillions of MARBLED GODWITS; 1 adult
BAR-TAILED GODWIT;1 juvenile SURF SCOTER; 1 WHIMBREL; 8 WILLETS; 1
LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER; 6 WANDERING TATTLERS; 2 RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS;
1 FEMALE COMMON MERGANSER; 5 WESTERN GREBES; 2 CLARK'S GREBES ( not
absolutely possitive, but looked like Sibley's pictures and
descriptions); DC CORMORANTS; 2 COMMON LOONS, and some SANDERLINGS on
theother beach.
...................Were large rafts of PINTAILS; WIDGEONS, and
CANVASBACKS along with lesser numbers of the usual migrant diving ducks
along north shore of Willapa Bay. Pair of RED-TAILED HAWKS on telephone
wire along Hwy 105. Lots of CANADA GEESE.
....................On a large grassy, rather muddy area in South Bend,
Wash. across from the motel where I stayed were may SEMIPALMATED
PLOVERS, and quiote a few LEAST SANDPIPERS (the tide was 8.4 ft at this
time).
....................Bay Center---Dike road along north slough: 1
PIED-BILLED GREBE, WESTERN GREBES; 1 COMMON MERGANSER, more
SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS; 1 PACIFIC LOON; and 1 ADULT RED-NECKED GREBE. Also
some BUFFLEHEAD, RING-NECKED DUCKS. Of course some sGREAT BLUE HERONS
here and there.
.....................Due to the early winter darkness, didn't stop at
JBL Whitetail Deer Refuge at Cathlsmet, Wash. like I usually do
(....some other time soon I guess).

.....................Haven't done any of my usual fall migrating
shorebird watching this year---especially in the Long Beach peninsula
area Moved into new manufactured home, and my time was consumed with
shed and deck building and painting----and other related "getting
establishing " choires.
