No, I really didn't see a Black-caped Chickadee. The cap was black. I couldn't see what color the cape was. The Zoro of the bird world!

At 1:00 today the AMERICAN REDSTART was with a flock of birds at the previous location on M Street and 29th NW of Emerald Downs. Other attendees were Black-caped Chickadee, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Bushtit and an American Goldfinch. There were no Snowy Owls in the flock.

I agree with Gene H. that the flank patches were orange-yellow. The Peterson Warbler Field Guide describes and pictures this bird as a first fall male.
