Subject: Whidbey Clay-Colored Sparrow, Snowy Owl

Hello Everyone,

Today at 11:30am Penny from Seattle and I observed the CLAY-COLORED SPARROW
in the usual place at Freeland Park.

At 3pm my wife and I observed a SNOWY OWL perched on the driftwood on
Keystone Spit. It was seen near the easternmost road access - the one
furthest from the ferry dock and was easily visible from the main paved road
to the ferry dock. This is not the same individual I reported last week.
Last week's bird had very few black spots while this one was richly spotted
on the body and head. This bird is easily spooked so stay a respectful
distance away - at least fifty yards. A scan of the rest of the spit
revealed no other snowy owls although a SHORT-EARED OWL put in an
appearance.
