Hi. I went to Prudhoe bay to work on my desire to drive from the
south tip of South America to the Arctic Ocean. A long but fun ride.
Need only a few miles in northern South America to complete.
Also I wanted to see just how much damage was being done. Let me
tell you it is almost zilch. The new oil drilling stations are now
about only an acre. All travel is done in the winter when the snow
covers the tundra. One can see all most nothing of human workings. I
was impressed.
One interesting thing, They had to put the pipe line under ground
every so often so the carabou could walk through as they might be
afraid to go under. They bed down a lot under the pipeline. We saw a
heard crossing and where the pipeline came up out of the ground and
was low they got down on there knees to crawl under rather the move
over 50 ft and walk through the gap. I do not think the pipe line has
any effect now on the heards as it has always been there for them .
If the owls are coming south because of a food shortage I do not
think it is man caused.
