About 2 this afternoon the owl was sitting calmly on the logs just SE of
the Navy housing area, with about 8 or 10 of us watching from perhaps 100
feet away. It was calm, that is, until one photographer got within about 60
feet and spooked it It flew off and settled atop a power pole at the NE
corner of Navy housing. The same photographer was still pursuing it as I
left the area.
