Tweeters,

Last night at 10 PM I was driving home to Anacortes from a Bellingham choral
practice with Jay Smith and Phyllis Dolph. Coming down Farm-to-Market Road
to 20, I'd been talking about all the reported Snowy Owl sightings and how I
was longing to get out there to see my first wild Snowy Owl.

Just as we reached the railroad tracks, a huge white bird lifted up from the
roadside on our right and flapped away.

"Was that a Snowy Owl?"

"Sure looked like it!"

I turned onto the highway, checking traffic behind me, and we quickly peered
back to the right. We got one last glimpse of it, like a ghost in the dark.
Definitely a Snowy. A fleeting sighting for a new life bird, but good
enough.

I still want to see one in daylight!
