A Townsend's Solitaire has been sitting outside my window the last two days.
It likes to sit on a stunted juniper I planted there, and flies out to pluck
berries off the Pyracantha (the juniper has no berries). It also defends the
area from the many Varied Thrushes that have recently moved in.
Today on the Foothills Trail I had a pygmy-owl, a late Green Heron, and 3
falcon species as well as the usuals for the area.
