Yeah, the other day I watched several people on a birding field trip walk
right past a no trespassing sign. To quote local author and naturalist,
Irving Petite, Somewhere they learned reading and writing, but missed the
lesson on respecting. In my own excitement over interesting wild things I
have slid past a few no traipsing signs myself over the years. But I always
have done so alone, after looking around carefully so no one would see my
bad example, and always felt a tang of guilt about it. There are times when
people have resisted reporting rare birds on their property in order to
insure they do not get invaded by pests.
