A lone TRUMPETER SWAN was at the north end of Juanita Bay this morning. It
was feeding actively, and for the half hour that I watched it, an immature
(3rd year?) GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL stayed within 6 feet of it. I'm guessing
it was hoping to steal some goodies from the hard-working swan, but had no
success while I was there. Also in their company was a male BUFFLEHEAD, who
must have been benefiting from the underwater stirring. An interesting
trio.
