Hi fellow photographers,

My step-son, who is a PhotoShop genius, showed me a program called Neat
Image, which will reduce noise in a digital image much better than
PhotoShop. It can be downloaded free at:

http://www.neatimage.com/howto.html

The user's guide, which is accessed through the "help" tab, is very good
and easily guides the user through the steps in reducing the noise in a photo.

I have a Neat Image folder in the "My Technique" folder, on the second page
of my website, that has two photos in it. The first one is the original
image, after it has been cropped and sharpened. The second is after the
noise was reduced using Neat Image, then cropped and sharpened.

It is best to reduce the noise before any processing (cropping, adjusting
brightness and contrast, and sharpening). Be sure to save the original,
though.
