An unknown treasure, that collection. Have spent many hours myself there. Can remember my first time seeing it: absolutely took my breath away - such an opportunity to see all those birds and to linger, inspecting the identifying marks, etc. Was very sad to have heard that it would be removed because of lack of funding (or other priorities, or whatever).

I received word that the Whatcom Museum of History and Art in Bellingham is looking for a home for their extensive collection of display mounts of northwest birds. There aren't many collections like this left anymore ( I think of Malheur) with any educational value. The museum director is Tom Livesey, 360-676-6981. They apparently have some concern about preservation materials used on these specimens. I know the staff would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks, Jack M.
