I just returned from a morning trip out to Damon Point at Ocean Shores. Winds were strong from the north this morning. I located 4 Snowy Owls in the grassy area to the southeast of the Damon Point pond. Also, I flushed one Short-eared Owl while searching for the Snowy Owls.

Shorebirds were quite active this morning on the point with Dunlin being the most abundant. Also seen were Least Sandpiper, Black-bellied Plover, Semipalmated Plover (2 birds on the bay side near the parking area), Sanderling, and Killdeer.

Other raptors noted out on the point include Northern Harrier and Peregrine Falcon.

On the way out of Ocean Shores, I stopped and viewed one of the canals from the golf cart bridge opposite the Ocean Shores Library and found 2 male Eurasian Wigeons amidst a large flock of mixed waterfowl.

It was a great morning!
