We took a drive through Franklin, Adams and Grant counties yesterday (12/10)
and saw at least 4 Northern Shrikes - not a bad total for the Lower Columbia
Basin.

There were 4 American Tree Sparrows at Lind Coulee; a Snow Bunting along
Highway 26 between Washtucna and Othello and at least one Tricolored
Blackbird at Para Pond feedlots.

The number of raptors was good - at least 5 Rough-legged, 20 Red-tails, 2
Prairie Falcons, many Kestrels, and 5 Northern Harriers.

We didn't see
Rough-legs and Northern Shrikes in the Columbia Basin where I remember them
from past winters, though it's still early and more of these birds could
still show up there.
