Hiya tweets!

Went down to the Kent Ponds (aka the Green River Natural Resource Area or GRNRA) for the monthly bird survey. We always split into 2 groups, pond side and meadow side, and we combined for 63 species on this cold foggy day, better than what any of us really expected.

Best bird on the meadow side today was Short-eared Owl, and at least 2 individuals were seen today, by Roger Orness and myself. The pond team got a Green Heron, and Charlie Wright pointed out a Brown Creeper right by the Nursery as we were fixing to split up for the morning. we also had good duck diversity with at least 11 species, and a single adult Bald Eagle was seen. Other raptors included Northern Harrier (both juveniles and adults were ID'd), Cooper's Hawk (sub-adult), Red-tailed Hawk (adult and juvenile) and the pond side got a Sharp-shinned Hawk as well. Each team also got Mourning Dove, which none of us had seen out there recently. It was a great morning for birds all-in-all. I'm probably missing something else good that Charlie and Robert saw over on the pond side, but that's all I can remember!
