For the past two weeks there has been a Northern Harrier riding the Coho Ferry between Port Angeles and Victoria.

I understand that it rides with the Coho between ports, gliding out across the waves at times and then disappears when it reaches the harbour. It reportedly rejoins the boat on the trip back.

Not sure if this has been reported before or not but, either way it seems a very odd behaviour for a bird that I'm use to seeing over fields rather than water.

anyone aware of similar behaviour from other Harriers?
