Subject: [Tweeters] Long-tailed Ducks, Anacortes

Hello Tweeters,

This afternoon we saw three Long-tailed Ducks in Fidalgo Bay. They were just
north of the new trestle section of the Tommy Thompson Trail. Close enough
to see the long tail on two of them and fair plumage detail.

Also a nice scattering of Red-breasted Mergansers (all females), Common
Goldeneyes, Buffleheads, Scaups (probably Lesser but too far to be sure),
Common Loons, Pintails, a few Surf Scoters, and several very active Belted
Kingfishers.

The water was mirror-smooth and silvery, with pink cloud reflections, which
made for very nice viewing of diving birds. With a near-full moon on the
rise...
