Kristin Stewart, Rebecca Evans, and I had a nice, though chilly, day in
the Niqually area, today. Two SNOWY OWLS were still visible from Luhr
Beach, and at the refuge itself, we saw one BARN SWALLOW and one
NORTHERN SHRIKE. We also watched a GREAT BLUE HERON catch and swallow
two large voles.

Other winter reports of BARN SWALLOWS: I was answering the e-mail at
Seattle Audubon the other day, and there was a message from someone
reporting a BARN SWALLOW (or two?) in Seattle, I think at Golden
Gardens. If anyone is interested, I can check the details when I am in
the SAS office tomorrow.
