Hi Tweeters,
Today, 12/16, we went in search of the Snowy Owl seen on 12/4. Our route was west on SR 291 to SR 231 south. Just west of Tum Tum we spotted a Northern Shrike on the electric line running along the road. We arrived at <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Wendtland Rd. at about noon, and not finding any owls, turned west onto Detour Rd. where we soon spotted another Northern Shrike in a farmhouse yard on the north side of the road. There were several flocks of Gray Partridges along the way and flocks of both resident and arctic Horned Larks. A male Northern Harrier cruised along to our north at one point.

After lunch in Davenport we decided to retrace our route and in just a block or two spotted a Mtn. Ash with Bohemian Waxwings among the Starlings munching on berries. We then drove to Morrison Rd. and just west of Bennett Rd. spotted a 1st-year female SNOWY OWL on a telephone post by the road-beautiful bird with crisp black and white markings except for it's white face. At a couple of locations we watched a coyote trotting across a snowy field.

The trip bird list included 27 species seen, but these were the highlights.
