I saw this on another listserver, any guesses?
We interrupt your daily dose of gulls to bring you this quite odd
passerine, photographed at a feeder in Quebec:

There has already been some speculation on the bird's identity at the
carolinabirds list, which you can find here if you want it

but in case you want a fresh unbiased crack at it, I'll avoid repeating
the speculation so far.
Well, I will say this - although the red color has led some to
speculate on a finchy ancestry, to my mind, the posture says "ground
feeding sparrow/junco" and the speculation along those lines (i.e.,
sparrow with abnormal red coloration) has seemed more plausible to me.
