On Sunday, Dec. 18th, I was in Blaine visiting relatives and they showed the walk along the bird preserve at Blaine. There were large numbers of Dunlins, Northern Pintails, Green-winged Teals among others. The interesting thing for me were the large numbers of Black Turnstones, I counted 29 but there were many more. They were perched on stumps and running back and forth on the shore. They were making a lot of noise and chasing each other around and cavorting in general. These were some of my best views of Black Turnstones in these numbers. A Bald Eagle scattered everything into a giant cloud mass of birds of all shapes and sizes. But only for a few seconds....soon the mass had settled back into their starting positions.

Was I seeing a Black Turnstone Fandango?
