Dan Heyerly Reported:
Alan Contreras found a CURLEW SANDPIPER today at Bastendorf Beach
in Coos County just south of Charleston. I love that name. Bastendorf.
BASTENDORF!!

I am sure he and others will be posting more information at some
point, along with other highlights of the count, but I thought I'd
put this out there so folks could chase it if they so
desired. The bird was actively feeding with a large flock of other
shorebirds (Western Sand, Least Sand, Sanderling, & Dunlin) in the
little freshwater stream that flows into the ocean just south of the
south jetty. Dogs were ripping through the flock time after time but
they/it kept coming back to the same small area in the stream. Perhaps
Tim Rodenkirk or someone more familiar with that area could be more
specific with directions in case mine are lacking.

I just wonder how this little beauty escaped Tim Rodenkirk's pre-CBC scan!

Good find Alan!
