Ruth I did not know that National Geo did bird books until I received one
for Christmas. It isn't your book and I hope that this comment is not
unwelcome. It is called National Geographic Birder's Journal. subtitle Life
List: Fully illustrated for recording bird sightings and notes. The cover
also informs me that this book is a companion to the best selling (?) Field
Guide to the Birds of North America. It is not one that I would have chosen
for myself but I am sure enjoying it.

It is filled with b&w drawings of each bird but no descriptions other then a
common and Latin name for each bird with the words date and location as well
as a number of lines to record personal information. There is also a check
list at the front of the book to record sighted birds.

It has been fun, but it is winter and I have time to do all this. Who knows
come spring.

Hello Tweeters,

This new Bird Book was sent to me by National Geographic.I notices that
most of the pictures being used by the "Field Guide to the Birds of North
America."

I wonder if other birders already purchased this new Book .It is quite large
696 pages. The Cover is in Black with Gold letters.I would had preferred the
Cover with a Photo of a Bird.

If any of you tweeters have any input on this Book,I would really much
appreciate any comments or critic. And also for how much is this offered on
the marked.

Happy New Year and good birding for the year 2006
