I just tried to send a pic of the Korean form of the White-bellied Woodppecker, but was informed that it contained too many bites. So I canceled it, rather than wait for (dis)approval. If anyone would like me to send it to them, let me know. I have it handy on the siide of my screen. It is of a South Korean postage stamp. Thiis bird is a nationnal monument inn the south, and probably also in the north.

Well, one thing is certain, and that is North Korea will never allow american birders in to see it! But I suspect South Koreans would be able to do so.

Habitat for this woodpecker is mature deciduous forests, with or without an admixture of pines. The only habitat like that in the north is in the southwest part of the country, and where there are a lot of humans. Obviously, the locations have to be off limits to exploitation by the little people. Maybe those are also secret nuclear sites.
