Yes, I know winter isn't over by far, but turkey vultures start their
northward migration early and the vanguard appears in February, often early
in the month. Just one or two usually, but they'll be on their way soon.

Turkey vulture reports from Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia for
late November/December 2004 and January 2005:

November
25 - 1 inland from the mouth of the Elwha River
26 - 1 soaring with a bald eagle and a redtail at Point No Point

December
15 - 1 over the Valley Nursery in Poulsbo; 1 at Cowichan Bay, Vancouver
Island, B.C.
18 - 1 on the Victoria CBC, B.C. (maybe more??)
20 - 1 over the Dungeness RA (first one seen on the Sequim-Dungeness CBC)
22 - 1 over Hwy 1 near Colwood, B.C.
28 - 7 or 8 near the intersection of Burnside Rd.W/Prospect Lake Rd., B.C.
31 - 1 in flight over Surrey, B.C.

January
08 - 1 flying just north of Longview
16 - 3 flapped out of the scrub near the Fern Ridge area west of Eugene, Oregon
21 - 2 circling the farm of a dead animal hauler in Graham
22 - 1 near Cottage Grove, Oregon

Thanks for the great reports; they are always appreciated. A pretty good
showing for this winter. If anyone else has sightings, please let me know .
