Hello Katy,
Yes the state he turned around is Nebraska. This is the second birder who done this. With out going to meet some of this dedicated birder it is hard to understand,Most all of this birders are high on the ABA list and in strong competition with each other. But it is this RARE Thrush who bringing birders as you and me too. There been sightings on the East Coast ,but this birds never stayed to long some only one day.So this is also wy so many birders flocking here to Olympia. The day when the Redwing was sighted by two birders only, there left 20 birders behind and there stayed for three days but never found the bird. And yes there is big money involved to going for rare birds.I heard there been a book written all about chasing Rare bird and there experience what there encountered. If any of you know the title let us all know.It would be fun to read this. For me It was an exiting experience to talk to some of this birders and I must say ,there not this chasing birds but there have a lot of birding expertise to offer about plumage and others.

Cheers Ruth Sullivan
